Winner over two legs qualifies for the CAF Champions League group stages.
Uganda Premier League (UPL) kings Vipers SC have their sights firmly set on the CAF Champions League group stages — but standing in their way is a true African heavyweight: Power Dynamos FC of Zambia.

Fresh from dispatching Namibia’s African Stars with back-to-back 1-0 victories, the Venoms have earned the right to dream bigger.

A decisive strike from defensive lynchpin Hilary Mukundane in Cape Town, followed by a cool finish from talisman Yunus Sentamu at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, secured a flawless 2-0 aggregate triumph and underlined the team’s growing continental pedigree.
October Fest
The reward? A mouth-watering clash with the reigning Zambian champions. The first leg will be staged at Kitende between October 17-19, before the Venoms head to the intimidating Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola for the return leg on October 24-26. Victory over two legs will guarantee a golden ticket into the Champions League group stages — a stage that brings prestige, exposure, and serious financial muscle.

It is a stage the Venoms know well. In the 2022/23 season, Vipers turned heads across the continent by stunning DR Congo’s legendary TP Mazembe to qualify for the groups, cementing their reputation as Uganda’s most daring force in Africa.
Dynamos’ Rocky Road
While Vipers marched with calm efficiency, Power Dynamos had to weather a storm to reach this point. They dumped out Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas in a nerve-shredding penalty shootout.

After winning 1-0 in Ndola through Innocent Kashita, the Zambians saw their lead wiped out in Abidjan when Fofana struck in the second half. With tempers boiling — both sides losing a man to red cards — the tie had to be settled from the spot.

That’s when goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga emerged as the hero, saving Romaric Amoussou’s effort to seal a 5-4 shootout win, sparking wild celebrations back home.
A Clash of Ambitions
Now, Uganda’s Venoms and Zambia’s Dynamos lock horns in what promises to be a high-voltage contest — two proud champions chasing the same dream of dining at Africa’s top table.

The countdown is on. The stage is set. The Venoms are ready to bite.
