STARTIMES UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE:
SATURDAY’S RESULT
Vipers SC 1-0 KCCA
32’ Allan Okello
Vipers SC delivered a performance of authority and intent as they edged fierce rivals KCCA FC 1–0 on Friday evening at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende — a result that sent a loud message across the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL).

This rivalry has long stood at the heart of the modern Ugandan game, with the two sides consistently trading league titles and pushing each other to the limit.

On this occasion, the Venoms once again showed why they remain favourites in the hunt for silverware.
Fast Start, Full Control
From kickoff, Vipers flew out of the blocks with intensity and purpose, setting the tone in front of a roaring home crowd.
The Venoms refused to allow KCCA any rhythm, pressing aggressively and winning the physical and tactical battles across the pitch.

The midfield trio of Enock Ssebaggala, Marvin Joseph Youngman, and Karim Watambala dictated the tempo, completely neutralising Joel Sserunjogi, Saidi Mayanja, and Umar Lutalo and cutting all supply to the visitors’ wide forwards.

The breakthrough nearly arrived in the 10th minute when Ssebaggala ghosted into the area to meet a cutback from Usama Arafat Kiza, only to steer his effort agonisingly wide with the goalkeeper beaten.
Persistence Rewarded
The pressure finally told in the 32nd minute.
A determined run down the left by Yunus Sentamu opened KCCA’s backline before he fired in a low cross that goalkeeper Charles Lukwago failed to handle. Okello reacted fastest, calmly sweeping home the opener to send Kitende into celebration.

It was no less than Vipers deserved — a goal built from intensity, control, and hunger.
Holding Firm & Finishing the Job
With the lead secured, Vipers showcased another dimension of their game — composure and defensive discipline.
KCCA pushed numbers forward in the closing stages, but the Venoms remained organised, marshalled expertly by Kevin Dasylva Bady and Rogers Torach.

Substitute Milton Karisa came close to doubling the lead late on after superb work from Ashraf Mandela, but the winger couldn’t convert from close range.

Still, the single goal proved enough — and the Venoms celebrated a statement victory.
Victory With Title Implications
Beating KCCA is never just about three points — it is a marker. These matchups have decided titles in recent years, and once again, Vipers have shown they are ready to set the pace in the race for the crown.

The win means: Two wins from two to start the campaign, six points in the bag, momentum and confidence firmly established and a major rival silenced.

A clearer signal could not be sent — the champions have arrived, and they intend to defend their crown.
What’s Next
Vipers now pause for the international break before returning to action at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on November 22 when Maroons FC come calling.
The mission is clear: Defend the title. Set the pace. Stay relentless.
