MATCH RESULT
Vipers SC 2–1 Maroons FC
1’ Yunus Sentamu
8’ Usama Arafat
57’ Raymond Walugembe
Vipers SC preserved their flawless start to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League season with a 2–1 victory over a stubborn Maroons side on Saturday night — a result built on ruthless efficiency in the opening exchanges and composed game management thereafter.

The champions entered the contest under significant scheduling pressure, yet once again displayed the mentality of a team intent on defending their crown.
Sparkling Start, Ruthless Execution
Vipers wasted no time stamping their authority, breaking the deadlock inside the very first minute.

Yunus Sentamu — relentless as ever — powered down the flank and drilled a teasing ball across the penalty area. In the ensuing scramble, defender Derrick Basoga turned the ball into his own net under pressure, sending the Kitende faithful into instant celebration.

Barely had the visitors steadied when Usama Arafat Kiza struck with brilliance. After Ronald Orombi misjudged a midfield pass, the forward burst into space, glided past his marker, and dispatched a composed finish into the bottom corner to make it 2–0 inside eight minutes.

It was the perfect display of hunger, tempo and sharpness from the Venoms — vintage Vipers.
Maroons Fight Back, Venoms Dig In
To their credit, Maroons refused to fold. After regrouping at halftime, the visitors returned with renewed purpose and intensity.

Their persistence paid off in the 57th minute when Raymond Walugembe timed his run perfectly to slot home from close range, trimming the deficit and setting up a tense finish.

Pushed onto the back foot, Vipers showed another side of their identity — discipline and maturity.
Karim Watambala and Marvin Youngman slowed the tempo in midfield, while the defensive trio of Kevin Dasylva Bady, Hilary Mukundane and Rogers Torach repelled wave after wave with composure and authority.

Despite Maroons’ late pressure, the champions refused to panic — and shut the door when it mattered most.
Victory With Bigger Implications
Beyond the three points, the result sends a message.
Vipers now sit on nine points from three matches — and though they currently place seventh due to a congested fixture list, they trail leaders KCCA FC by only six points with four games in hand.

For the rest of the league, the math and message is simple: Vipers are gaining momentum — and have room to accelerate.
What’s Next
The Venoms return to action on Wednesday when they visit Express FC at the Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

The energy in the camp remains unchanged; win, apply pressure, stay perfect and keep the title defence on track.
