Sometimes football writes stories that no scriptwriter could ever imagine and dream about. Today, that dream becomes a reality. It’s not Christmas Day, not even New Year’s Day.
Yet for thousands of Vipers Sports Club supporters across Uganda and beyond, today will certainly feel like Christmas has arrived several months early.
One of the most feared strikers ever to grace the Uganda Premier League is back.
Cesar Lobi Manzoki has returned home after putting pen to paper for a two-year deal.

Vipers SC are delighted to announce the return of the Congolese goal machine ahead of the 2026/27 season, bringing back a player whose name remains etched among the greatest ever to wear the famous red and black.
For many supporters, his departure a few years ago never truly felt complete. It was never goodbye. It simply felt like there was another chapter still waiting to be written.
Today, that chapter begins.
A Love Story Rekindled
There are players who play for clubs. Then there are players who become part of a club’s identity. During his first spell at Kitende, Manzoki did exactly that.
His explosive pace, intelligent movement, relentless work ethic and ruthless finishing made him one of the most exciting players Uganda has witnessed in recent memory.
Every time he stepped onto the pitch, supporters expected something extraordinary. More often than not, he delivered.

Across two memorable seasons, he featured in 46 Uganda Premier League matches, scoring 26 goals and creating another 13 as he inspired the Venoms to domestic glory.
His influence stretched beyond numbers as he became the heartbeat of the attack – the entertainer, the difference-maker and the Emperor.
The Season That Became Legend
If one campaign perfectly captures Manzoki’s greatness, it was undoubtedly the unforgettable 2021/22 season.
He terrorized defenders week after week, scoring 18 league goals to fire Vipers to the Uganda Premier League title while finishing as the league’s Golden Boot winner.
His brilliance earned him an unprecedented collection of individual honours; Uganda Premier League Player of the Season, Players’ Player of the Season, Forward of the Season, Golden Boot Winner, Most Assists Award and a deserved slot on the UPL Best XI.

Even before that title-winning masterpiece, he had already announced himself by finishing as the 2020/21 Uganda Cup top scorer with seven goals.
Very few players, in recent times, have dominated Ugandan football quite like Cesar Manzoki.
A Journey Across Continents
Following his departure from Kitende, Manzoki continued to build an impressive football résumé.
His journey has taken him through AS Dauphins Noirs, AS Maniema Union, AS Vita Club, Dalian Pro in China, Hatta Club in the United Arab Emirates, Mohammedan Sporting Club in Bangladesh and most recently Eastern District FC in Hong Kong.

Now, after gathering invaluable experience across Asia and Africa, the 29-year-old returns to the place where his career reached extraordinary heights.
“It Feels Like Home Again”
For Manzoki, this is far more than another transfer. It is an emotional reunion.
“It’s amazing to be back to a place I call home,” said the affable striker.
“Rejoining Vipers SC is something I think someone is lucky enough to experience once in a lifetime, but for me it is happening twice. That makes it even more special because I enjoyed fantastic years here.

“I always believed this was the most special experience of my career. Coming back now, I can still feel the same passion, the same love and the same family atmosphere.
“I have a personal bond with the players, the supporters and everyone connected to the club. Some of my happiest memories in football were created here.
“Uganda, Kitende and Vipers will always have a special place in my heart. I’m excited to be back and I can’t wait to give everything for this badge once again.”
Lavagne: “He Has Come Home to Win Again”
Head Coach Denis Lavagne believes Manzoki’s return is about far more than goals. It is about bringing back a proven winner capable of inspiring a new generation.
“Some players need time to understand what a club represents. Cesar already knows,” said recently signed gaffer Lavagne.
“He is returning home, and that is important because he understands our culture, our ambition and the expectations that come with wearing this shirt.

“We know what he has achieved here before, but football is always about the next challenge. We believe he still has the hunger to score goals, entertain supporters and help this team compete for trophies again.
“Our ambitions extend beyond Uganda. We want to be competitive in Africa as well, and experienced players like Cesar will be vital as we continue building a squad capable of achieving those goals.”
A Statement of Intent
Manzoki’s arrival sends a powerful message. Vipers are not simply preparing to defend their domestic ambitions. They are assembling a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts.
With the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, Uganda Cup, CECAFA Kagame Cup and CAF Champions League football awaiting, the return of one of African football’s most devastating forwards adds another layer of quality, experience and belief.

He joins fellow new arrivals Jacques Mangoba, Nicholas Mwere, Joel Sserunjogi and Loyce Mbaba as preparations intensify for what promises to be another thrilling campaign.
Many a time, some players return to clubs but legends come home.
Welcome back, The Emperor.
Welcome home!
