Vipers Sports Club has officially confirmed the departure of midfield star Allan Okello, bringing the curtain down on a remarkable and trophy-laden spell at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, following the completion of his transfer to Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC (Yanga).

Okello leaves the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) champions as a domestic double winner, having played a defining role in Vipers’ 2024/25 Uganda Premier League and Stanbic Uganda Cup triumphs—one of the most successful seasons in the club’s modern history.

A Season for the Ages

The 2024/25 campaign will forever stand as Allan Okello’s masterpiece in Vipers colours.

Operating at the peak of his powers, the gifted playmaker finished as the Uganda Premier League top scorer with 19 goals—an extraordinary feat for an attacking midfielder—and a testament to his match-winning influence.

Across his league career at Kitende, Okello registered 24 goals and 13 assists in just 58 Uganda Premier League appearances, while adding four goals and two assists in the Uganda Cup over his two-and-a-half-year stay.

Big-Game Player

On the continental stage, Okello represented Vipers with distinction in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, helping the Venoms progress to the second preliminary round and carrying the club’s ambitions with composure, creativity and leadership.

Whether under pressure at home or on the African stage, Okello consistently delivered when it mattered most.

The Creative Heartbeat

Having joined Vipers in September 2023 following his return from Algerian side Paradou AC, Okello quickly established himself as the team’s creative heartbeat.

His vision, technical excellence and calm authority in decisive moments made him a fan favourite and a natural leader on the pitch—qualities that defined an era at Kitende.

With six months remaining on his contract, the club sanctioned his exit in recognition of both his outstanding service and his desire for a new challenge.

A New Chapter in Dar

Okello now embarks on a fresh journey in Dar es Salaam with Young Africans SC, joining a proud list of Ugandan internationals—including Steven Bengo, Emmanuel Okwi, Hamis ‘Diego’ Kiiza and Khalid Aucho – who have previously worn the famous yellow and green.

He arrives at Yanga not just as a marquee signing, but as a proven winner shaped by success at club and international level.

Vipers’ Gratitude

Vipers SC thanks Allan Okello for his professionalism, commitment and decisive contributions during one of the most successful periods in the club’s history and wishes him the very best in the next chapter of his career.
