Coach Denis Lavagne says preparations for the club’s upcoming CAF encounter against Mauritanian side FC Nouadhibou are progressing well, with the tactician expressing confidence in his players ahead of Saturday’s highly anticipated clash.
Lavagne acknowledged the quality and experience of Nouadhibou, describing the Mauritanian side as a strong opponent, but insisted Vipers SC are focused on their own preparations and are ready to rise to the occasion.
“It is another opportunity to showcase what we have, we are doing it against a very good side who were in the group stages in 2024 and we are preparing adequately and the players are getting it right and I believe we are capable of doing it.”
Lavagne also acknowledged Nouadhibou as a tough opponent but remained confident of readiness to face the North African side.
“The preparations are going on very well. We know we are facing a very good team, they are a very tough team, but we are also a good team and we have been preparing well for this match,” Lavagne said.
The French coach noted that the team has been working on different aspects of its game as they seek to produce a strong performance against FC Nouadhibou.
“We have been working on our tactics, our fitness and also the mental aspect because these are the kind of matches where you need to be fully prepared. We know what is expected of us on Saturday,” he added.
Lavagne believes playing against a team of FC Nouadhibou’s calibre will provide Vipers SC with an opportunity to demonstrate their quality on the continental stage.
“Nouadhibou have good players and they have experience in African competitions. We respect them and this match will also give our players a chance to fight for their places.”
The Venoms Gaffer has urged his players to remain disciplined and focused throughout the encounter, insisting that every detail could prove decisive in this CAF fixture.
“We have to be disciplined, stay together and fight for every ball. If we do what we have been training and play with confidence, then we can get a positive result,” Lavagne stated.
