Hilary Mukundane said he can only focus on changing Vipers’s fortunes by looking for a better result in next weekend’s first leg home CAF Champions League match against Mauritania’s FC Nouadhibou.
The Venoms endured a disappointing opening-day evening at St Mary’s stadium, conceding an own goal from defender Kevin Dasylva Bady.
We were unable to find a way back into the contest and therefore approach our next outing against against FC Nouadhibou looking to bounce back in just over a week’s time.
The Venoms will welcome the Mauritanian side to Kitende next Sunday (19:00pm kick-off) and with nothing we can now do about the frustration we felt by the loss last evening, Mukundane stressed the importance of getting the right result next time out.
Speaking to Vipers Media, the vice-captain said: “Obviously, the first home CAF Champions League game next week will be massive for us, and even more now that we didn’t win the game against Entebbe UPPC FC.
“Losing on the opening day isn’t right, so we really need a result in the next game.”
Our defender skipper suggested there is plenty Vipers SC can do on the training pitch in the next six days to right the wrongs of this defeat.
“We need to work on whatever didn’t work out for us today, we need to get better, we need to prepare ourselves for the next big game.
“There’s not much I can say that will change the result today, but there’s a lot we can do in the next one to change that.”
“We know every game will be tough in the Uganda Premier League and every tournament we take part in like it has always been but it’s upon us to pick up ourselves and respond as a team.
