Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have officially unveiled Nigerian centre-back Princewill Biweribo Tarabina as their latest signing ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 23-year-old defender has joined the Venoms on a two-year contract, strengthening the club’s defensive options as they prepare for another demanding campaign on multiple fronts.

Biweribo arrives at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, following a productive spell with Nigeria Premier Football League side Plateau United, where he established himself as a regular in the heart of the defence.

He made 20 league appearances last season, scoring twice and providing two assists.

The Nigerian centre-back previously spent four seasons with Bayelsa United, gaining valuable experience in the country’s top flight and developing into a physically imposing and dependable defender.

Vipers have moved quickly to secure his services as they continue to reinforce their squad ahead of the new season. His arrival adds further depth and competition to a defensive unit that will be required to cope with the demands of domestic and continental football.

The club’s head coach, Denis Lavagne, spoke with Vipers Media following Tarabina’s signing: “I’m pleased that we have been able to add to our squad with the arrival of Princewill. The club is a great place for him to be and his game will develop further.

“He is a young talent, who has experience at a high level, and he will continue to progress by training on a daily basis alongside the experienced centre- backs we have at the club in Hilary Mukundane, Kevin Dayslva and Nicholas Mwere.

Biweribo becomes the latest addition to an increasingly ambitious Vipers squad, joining recent recruits including Loyce Mbaba, Nicholas Mwere, Jacques Mangoba, Joel Sserunjongi and Farouk Miya, while Cesar Manzoki has also returned to the club.

Tarabina also commented: “I am very happy to be part of the Vipers Sports Club family. I can’t wait to meet the teammates, staff and fans of the club.

“I know Vipers is a great club in Uganda and l know they were League champions last season and we have to defend the title.

“I can’t wait to start working with Lavagne as I’ve seen the progress that young players can make working with him.”

The Nigerian’s signing further underlines Vipers’ strategy of blending established Ugandan talent with carefully selected players from across Africa.

With domestic title defence, the Uganda Cup and CAF Champions League commitments on the horizon, Biweribo will be expected to settle quickly and bring physicality, aggression and composure to the Venoms’ backline.

His two-year deal gives Vipers another young defender with top-flight experience and room to develop as the club targets success both at home and on the continental stage.
