Uganda Premier League (UPL) champions Vipers SC are fired up and ready to make their mark at the 2025 Cecafa Kagame Cup after discovering their opponents for the regional showpiece in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Set for September 2nd to 15th, with teams arriving by August 30, the tournament promises a stern test for the domestic double winners who last appeared in 2018 before being knocked out by Kenya’s Gor Mahia in the quarter-finals.

Vipers will face regional heavyweights, including APR FC (Rwanda), Al Hilal Omdurman and Al Ahly SC Wad Madani (Sudan), Ethiopian Coffee SC, and several other top clubs from across East and Central Africa. Hosts Tanzania will be represented by Singida Black Stars FC.

Intense preps

An event-filled off-season that ends on Friday with a friendly match against Azam FC in Kigali, Rwanda, Vipers will arrive in Dar es Salaam with confidence. The squad has undergone intense training sessions, participated in high-quality friendly matches, and refined tactical plans under the watchful eye of the coaching staff.

The team is eager to hit the ground running and start the competition with maximum intensity, aiming to assert their dominance and continue Uganda’s proud tradition in the regional tournament.

CECAFA competitions manager Yusuf Mossi emphasized the tournament’s importance; “We are happy that all 12 teams are confirmed. This tournament will help our clubs prepare for continental competitions.”

Vipers now know the road ahead—and they are more than ready to take it on with focus, flair, and determination.
