After six years of globetrotting and conquering top-flight leagues across Africa, Taddeo Lwanga is back at Kitende.

The combative midfielder has rejoined the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) champions Vipers SC, signing a one-year deal with an option to extend that signals his intent to add more silverware to an already glittering career.
Older & Wiser
Lwanga, who recently parted ways with Rwandan giants APR FC, returns to the Venoms as a battle-hardened, wiser, and more experienced professional.

His homecoming couldn’t be better timed, as Vipers prepare to defend their domestic double and mount a serious challenge in the CAF Champions League.

Having spent three weeks in pre-season training with the rest of the lads, Lwanga has impressed head coach Ivan Jacky Minnaert enough to earn a contract.
Joyous reunion
“Everyone at Vipers SC is thrilled to welcome Taddeo back,” said Minnaert.
“He brings great quality and experience at the highest level. He will be an excellent addition as we aim to compete on multiple fronts. I’m excited to work with him and I’m sure our supporters are too.”

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Lwanga shared his delight.
“I’m proud to have signed again for Vipers SC. I want to compete, push for titles, and contribute both on and off the pitch. This is a full-circle moment for me and I’m grateful to come back to a place l called home. I’m ready to go again and play in front of our amazing fans at St Mary’s stadium.”
Performing globetrotter
Since his 2019 departure, Lwanga has featured for Tanta FC (Egypt), Simba SC (Tanzania), Arta/Solar7 (Djibouti), and APR FC (Rwanda), winning league titles in Rwanda and Tanzania along the way.
He also helped Uganda return to the Africa Cup of Nations for the 2025 edition, having played a key role in the Cranes’ 2019 campaign that reached the Round of 16 in Egypt.

Lwanga’s leadership and winning mentality will be vital in the heart of midfield, where he joins a talented pool that includes Marvin Youngman, Paul Mbowa, and Frank Katongole.
He is Vipers’ latest signing alongside Enock Ssebagala, Odili Chukwuma, Mark Yallah, and Kevin Dasylva Bady.
Welcome back, Taddeo Lwanga!
