UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE

The Date: May 24th, 2025

The Contest: Vipers SC vs. Soltilo Bright Stars FC

The Time: 3pm

The Venue: St Mary’s Stadium

Vipers SC will be officially crowned the 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) champions this Saturday at the iconic St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, when they host Soltilo Bright Stars FC in their final match of the campaign.

The Venoms sealed the title with a game to spare, having amassed 68 points – four clear of closest challengers NEC FC.

Saturday’s fixture will mark a celebratory end to a dominant league campaign, highlighted by the presentation of the newly-unveiled league trophy, ‘Margherita’.

Class of Elites

Vipers become the first side to get their hands on the revamped trophy, which was officially revealed by FUFA on Thursday in a bid to raise the standards of the domestic top-flight.

By clinching their seventh league crown, Vipers have now equalled Express FC on the all-time roll of honour. Only SC Villa (17) and KCCA FC (13) have won more titles.

Since making their Uganda Premier League debut in the 2009/10 season, the Venoms have claimed the most championships (7), followed by KCCA (5), Express (1), SC Villa (1), and URA (1) in that period—further cementing their status as a modern-day powerhouse.

Head-to-Head Dominance

The fixture will also mark the 22nd league meeting between Vipers SC and Soltilo Bright Stars. The Venoms boast a flawless record in this matchup, with 12 wins and nine draws from the previous 21 encounters – remaining unbeaten.

In the reverse fixture earlier this season at the Kavumba Recreation Center, Vipers edged Bright Stars 2-1, courtesy of goals from Gusto Mulongo and Allan Okello. Defender Warren Buule netted the consolation for the hosts.

  • Meetings: 21
