UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
Saturday’s Result
BUL FC 1-0 Vipers SC
Vipers Sports Club were made to put the champagne on ice after falling 1-0 to BUL FC at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, on Saturday — their third defeat of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League season.

A late goal from Reagan Kalyowa handed the hosts all three points and denied the Venoms an early coronation.

Coming into the tie on the back of a 6-0 demolition of Mbale Heroes, Vipers only needed a win to clinch a record-equaling seventh league title. But BUL had other plans.
Missed Opportunities
Despite dominating possession in spells, Vipers found clear-cut chances hard to come by. Skipper Milton Karisa and midfielder Marvin Joseph Youngman came closest to breaking the deadlock, but both were thwarted by BUL’s impressive shot-stopper Joel Mutakubwa, who pulled off a couple of point-blank saves to frustrate the visitors.

At the other end, Vipers goalkeeper Alfred Macumu Mudekereza had to be alert throughout, making fine saves to deny Karim Ndugwa, Swabiru Mpasa, and Jeromy Kirya, as BUL slowly turned the screws.

Kalyowa Breaks the Deadlock
The decisive moment came in the dying minutes when Kalyowa pounced on a defensive lapse to drill home past Mudekereza, sparking wild celebrations from the home faithful and sending shockwaves through the title race.

Still in Control
Despite the setback, Fred Muhumuza’s men remain in the driving seat. The Venoms top the table with 65 points from 28 matches — four clear of second-placed NEC FC, who also have two games left.

Victory in either of their final two fixtures — away to Kitara FC and home to Soltilo Bright Stars FC — will be enough to seal the championship.
