Vipers Sports Club have been drawn against familiar foes Kitara FC in the semifinals of the 2024/25 Stanbic Uganda Cup.

The draw was conducted earlier today, Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Kampala Serena Hotel. In what promises to be a thrilling repeat of last season’s quarterfinals encounter, the Venoms will be seeking revenge after being eliminated by Kitara on penalties during the 2023/24 edition.

This time around, Vipers will host the first leg at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende before traveling to Butema for the return fixture at Royals Park Stadium, Hoima. The tentative dates for the two-legged tie are May 4-5 for the first leg and May 17-18 for the second leg.

Journey to the Semifinals

The Venoms’ path to the semifinals has been filled with dominant performances and crucial victories:

Round of 64: Tepa FC 1-2 Vipers SC (Livingstone Mulondo brace)

Round of 32: Vipers SC 2-0 Mbarara City FC (Goals by Yunus Sentamu and Allan Okello)

Round of 16: Vipers SC 3-0 Blacks Power FC (Goals by Pedro Honjo Sukuya, Yunus Sentamu, and Livingstone Mulondo)

Quarterfinals: Vipers SC 1-0 SC Villa (Milton Karisa late winner)

Meanwhile, Kitara FC secured their semifinal berth after edging BUL FC 1-0 in Hoima.

Eyes on a Fourth Title

Vipers SC are aiming to clinch a fourth Uganda Cup crown, having last lifted the prestigious trophy during the 2022/23 season with a 1-0 victory over Police FC, courtesy of a strike from captain Milton Karisa.

The Venoms, who are also currently leading the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) standings, are determined to maintain their strong form across all competitions and add another piece of silverware to their growing trophy cabinet.

Spotlight on Other Contenders

In the other semifinal, record holders KCCA FC will face FUFA Big League side Kataka FC. KCCA will host the first leg under the floodlights at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, before visiting Mbale for the return fixture.

The winners over two legs will contest the final at the newly constructed FUFA Stadium in Kadiba — a historic occasion as it will be the first official match at the FIFA-funded venue.
