UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
Friday’s Result
Express FC 2-2 Vipers SC
Vipers SC needed to dig deep to salvage a point against Express FC, in a 2-2 StarTimes Uganda Premier League stalemate played at the Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo on Friday.
The Venoms fell two goals down in the first-half, courtesy of Emmanuel Wasswa, before Allan Okello and Gusto Mulongo’s second half goals rescued a point away from home.
Express broke the deadlock in the 15th minute, a move that involved Muhammad Senoga Kagawa, whose effort hit the crossbar, before Wasswa headed in the rebound.
Wasswa then doubled the lead for the hosts in the 27th minute with a curling effort past goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza into the top left corner.
Towards the break, Okello was unlucky, as his stinging shot from outside the box hit the woodwork.
Okello then pulled one back in the 52nd minute with Pedro Sukuya’s cross finding the former unmarked, who struck emphatically at the near post into the top corner.
With five minutes added to 90, Vipers got the equaliser through substitute Gusto Mulongo. He beautifully got at the end of a beautiful Milton Karisa cross to level matters.
The result means Vipers SC lead the table on 53 points, two ahead of second-placed NEC FC. The latter will visit the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Thursday, in what promises to be a pulsating action.
