Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put Joseph has named three Vipers SC stars, Karim Watambala, Allan Okello and Rogers Torach in the 26-man provisional squad for the upcoming FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
The squad was unveiled today at FUFA House in Mengo, as the team prepares for two crucial ties.
Uganda will face Mozambique on March 20 in Cairo, Egypt, before returning at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole to take on Guinea on March 25.
Okello, who has been a regular in the Uganda Cranes fold in the recent past, has been rewarded for his excellent form this season, as he leads the Uganda Premier League scorers’ chart with 14 goals. He has added two assists in the League, with one goal apiece in the FUFA Super 8 and the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Meanwhile, Watambala’s overall play and consistency on the pitch has stood out. He has chipped in with four assists for Vipers in 19 Uganda Premier League games.
Torach, has been colossal in the Venoms backline this season, being a key figure in the set up that has only conceded nine goals in the League, the meanest of any team in the division.
