KCCA FC 0-2 Vipers SC

Vipers SC managed a massively important 2-0 victory over KCCA FC in a pulsating StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Sunday.

Hitman Yunus Sentamu and midfielder Allan Okello were the chief punishers on the night where Vipers extended their point tally to 40 points at the top, three ahead of second-placed NEC FC after 17 matches.

This was Vipers 12th victory in 17 matches, the most by any team. It was also the seventh successive away win for the Venoms.

At Lugogo, in the 28th minute, Sentamu beat the KCCA backline when he cut in from the left before curling in a delicious ball just inside goalkeeper Mutwalibu Mugolofa’s left-hand post for Vipers’ breakthrough.

Okello doubled our advantage just two minutes later, punishing his former team with a strong finish past the on-rushing Mugolofa after defender Filbert Obenchan’s error.

It should have been three moments later, but Mugolofa made a stunning save to deny Nicholas Wadada, who had been set through by the dangerous Okello from the right wing.

Substitute Kenneth Kimera nearly extended the scoreline in the early moments of the second half, but he was denied by another excellent stop from Mugolofa.

In the latter stages of the game, our custodian Alfred Mudekereza stood tall and strong to deny a stinging shot from KCCA left-back James Mubezi.

Following the victory, Vipers will return to action in the Round of 32 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup when they host Mbarara City FC at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Thursday.
