Midfielder Marvin Joseph Youngman has rejoined Vipers Sports Club, the six-time StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) champions, on a two-year contract that will keep him at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende until January 2027.

The 26-year-old Cranes international, returning from Soltilo Bright Stars FC, was signed on the recommendation of co-coaches John ‘Ayala’ Luyinda and Fred Muhumuza.

Proven Winner

Youngman previously enjoyed remarkable success at Vipers, playing a pivotal role in their 2022/2023 double-winning season, clinching the Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup under coach Alex Isabirye.

During his initial spell, he made 20 league appearances, including 11 in his final season, showcasing his midfield prowess. And was also part of the team that took Vipers SC to their first ever CAF Champions League group stages.

Ironically, his path has come full circle, as he first joined Vipers from Soltilo Bright Stars in his earlier move – and now returns from the same club.

Upon his return to vipers, Youngman says he could not be happier to be back at Kitende.

“My two years at Vipers Sports Club were a time of pure contentment for me, both on and off the pitch,” Youngman said.

“I grew as a person and a player, developed a special relationship with the Vipers fans and enjoyed amazing success. It was an exceptional period in my life. To have the opportunity to return here means so much.”

“I don’t want it to sound too nostalgic to be honest, because it’s still about competing. It’s still about having that drive. It’s still about trying to be the best version of yourself and that’s all an ambition that I still have, incredibly in myself.”

“But I still want to prove myself every day in training sessions and games and still become the best possible version of myself. I still have an incredible sense for winning, for competing and I think the package that you get here, right now today, you can’t find it anywhere else, and that made it for me very, very easy to come back.”

Youngman’s earlier career saw him feature for Bulemeezi Ssaza, Busujju Ssaza, and lower-tier side Hima FC.

Competitive Midfield

The versatile midfielder will face stiff competition from Vipers’ established midfield talents, including Patrick Paul Mbowa, Karim Watambala, Moses Waiswa, Abubakar Lawal, and Abubakali Walusimbi.

Youngman becomes Vipers’ first acquisition of the January 2025 transfer window, marking a significant reinforcement as the club eyes more silverware this season.

Everyone at Vipers Sports Club wishes Youngman the very best of luck on his return to the Club.
