STANBIC UGANDA CUP | R64
The Date: January 10th, 2025
The Contest: TEPA FC vs. Vipers SC
The Time: 3pm
The Venue: St Aloysius Core PTC, Ngora
Vipers SC will kickstart their 2024/25 Stanbic Uganda Cup journey on Friday, when they face FUFA Regional League side Teso Progress Academy (TEPA) FC in the Round of 64 of the 51st edition of the competition.
It will be the first time in history that the Kitende-based side will be taking on TEPA in a competitive engagement at St Aloysius Core PTC Grounds, Ngora.

Co-coach John ‘Ayala’ Luyinda has underlined that the team is fully prepared to take on any challenge that TEPA could present. He also warned the team against taking the opponents for granted because of their placement in the FUFA Regional League.
“We don’t take any team for granted and we have to prepare the same way we do for other games. We are managing the fatigue of some players, so we are likely to do some rotation.”

“We expect a good challenge from the team despite it being a regional side. But, we are fully prepared to take it on,” Ayala summed.
Meanwhile, midfielder Moses Waiswa, who scored the only goal in our most recent 1-0 win over Maroons FC, reiterated Ayala’s message, insisting that the team is ready for the TEPA challenge.

“We have prepared more than we do when going to play the top division teams, because games against lower division teams have nothing to lose, yet we do. It’s a knockout game, so we shall not take anything for granted. We have mentally prepared for everything, and we are hopeful that we’ll win.”
Vipers will be charging for a fourth Stanbic Uganda Cup title, with their last triumph coming in the 2022/23 season, as they edged Police FC 1-0, courtesy of Milton Karisa at the Akii-Bua Stadium in Lira.

Last campaign, we came short at the quarterfinal stage after being eliminated by Kitara FC, following post-match penalties in Masindi.
