UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
Monday’s Result
Vipers SC 1-0 Maroons FC
Vipers SC winded up the first round of the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League season on top of the table, following a narrow but curial 1-0 victory over Maroons FC at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Monday.
At the summit, we have accumulated 34 points in 15 matches, four ahead of second-placed NEC FC, who take on Mbale Heroes FC on Tuesday.

Midfielder Moses Waiswa’s solitary goal was enough for the Venoms to grind the three points on home turf, under the floodlights.
Waiswa sumptuously netted from an indirect freekick into the left corner past goalkeeper Simon Tamale, off a touch from Patrick Mbowa.

In the 42nd minute, forward Kenneth Kimera nearly added a second for Vipers, but his header was off target, after Tamale had spilled a shot from Karim Watambala.
Substitute Gusto Mulongo, who came on for the injured Milton Karisa, struck inches wide in the 56th minute, following an assist from Allan Okello.

Mohamed Salem Ekbad was later denied by a strong Tamale hand, after donkey work from fellow substitute Abubakar Lawal.
While the guests dominated possession in the closing stages of the game, they did not offer purposeful threat towards our goalkeeper Alfred Macumu Mudekereza.

Vipers will now shift focus to the Stanbic Uganda Cup on Friday, where they’ll make a long trip to the Teso region to take on TEPA FC at the Round of 64.
