UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE

Saturday’s Result

Vipers SC 0-0 Kitara FC

Vipers SC and Kitara FC played out a barren StarTimes Uganda Premier League stalemate at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende floodlights on Saturday.

The point left the Venoms second on the 2024/2025 table, one point behind NEC FC, who beat Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa 2-1.

On the evening in Kitende, the goalless draw did not necessarily tell the entire tale, as Vipers did just enough to walk away with the  points but for ill-luck.

Playmaker Allan Okello should have put the Venoms ahead earlier in the first-half, but he was denied by the post, after dancing past a number of defenders.

Talisman Yunus Sentamu was denied by a super save from goalkeeper Chrispus Kusiima, having headed on target a cross from skipper Milton Karisa.

Karisa also threatened late in the first stanza but his goal-bound effort was met with a brave block from Kitara defender Benjamin Nyakoojo.

Into the second half, Vipers continued their dominance in possession and chances created, but could not capitalise for a much-needed goal.

Karim Watambala and substitutes Abubakar Lawal as well as Mohamed Salem Ekbad, all threatened but couldn’t find the winner, as we eventually settled for a point.

Vipers will switch attention to next Saturday to seek redemption, as we visit Soltilo Bright Stars FC at the Kavumba Recreation Center.
