The Contest: Vipers SC vs. Kitara FC

The Time: 7pm (Live on Fufa TV)

The Venue: St Mary’s Stadium

Vipers SC will continue the hunt for the 2024/2025 Uganda Premier League championship when they play host to Kitara FC at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday.

The Venoms come into the encounter second on the log, as they have accumulated 20 points in nine matches.

We enter tomorrow’s fray off the back of a comfortable 2-0 victory over URA FC at the Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo. Allan Okello and captain Milton Karisa were on the scoresheet.

On the other hand, Kitara sit 15th on the 16-team log with seven points collected in nine games. However, they were emphatic 4-0 victors over UPDF FC last time out.

Meanwhile, our assistant head coach Fred Muhumuza has stressed the importance of the game underlining that it won’t be a walk in the park against the Royals.

“We all know they won the last game with four goals, but if it comes to Kitende, they know where they are coming. They know it’s a big and tough game, and it’s a must win for us,” he told the club media.

“We have a good squad, and if we press them from the back and squeeze again in the midfield, I know we will cause them problems of letting openness in their defence as well as the midfield.”

Last season in Kitende, we were narrow 2-1 winners, courtesy of a Bright Anukani brace. Jude Ssemugabi netted Kitara’s consolation.

Away from home in Masindi, Vipers were comfortable 2-0 victors, thanks to Yunus Sentamu and Abubakar Lawal’s strikes.

Since 2020, Vipers and Kitara have met four times in the league, with as many victories for the former.
