UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
Saturday’s Result
Vipers SC 1-1 KCCA FC
Vipers SC and KCCA FC played out an entertaining and nerve-wracking 1-1 Uganda Premier League stalemate at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday.
The bout was a make of nerves, close calls, grit, battles and cracking goals, eventually ending with shared points for both teams.
Skipper Milton Karisa netted for the Venoms while Ashraf Mugume scored for the visiting Kasasiro boys under the floodlights.
Karisa netted at the stroke of halftime with a fine header past goalkeeper Mutwalibi Mugolofa, off a stunning Derrick Ndahiro cross.
At the moment of the opener, the Venoms had created decent opportunities to break the deadlock, but Allan Okello and Yunus Sentamu struck over, while Karim Watambala had been denied by Mugolofa.
In the second half, Vipers re-took control of the game, and mastered a couple of chances, including a drive from Moses Waiswa that was blocked by Hassan Muhamood.
On the other side, our goalkeeper Denis Kiggundu denied Sadat Anaku after a one-on-one situation.
With the last piece of action, KCCA grabbed a point as Mugume struck on the half volley past Kiggundu.
The point leaves Vipers second on the Uganda Premier League log with 17 points, while KCCA are top with 18.
The Venoms will be back in action a fortnight after the international break, with a visit to URA FC, while KCCA will host third-placed NEC FC.
