The Contest: Mbarara City vs. Vipers SC

The Time: 4pm (Live on Fufa TV)

The Venue: Kakyeeka Stadium

Vipers SC will seek to extend their impressive run in the Uganda Premier League when they make a long trip to the West to battle Mbarara City FC at the Kakyeeka Stadium on Tuesday.

The Venoms have won three on the bounce, getting the better of SC Villa, Wakiso Giants FC and Police FC. Overall, we have four victories this season, along with one defeat and a stalemate.

After six games, we sit third on the log with 13 points. On the other hand, Mbarara City occupy fourth with nine points.

Our assistant coach, Fred Muhumuza, has warned that it will be a difficult contest given the pitch conditions and Mbarara City’s fine home form.

“Another intriguing game as Mbarara City hasn’t been won at home. And playing against a former coach in a soggy and bumpy ground won’t be easy but we expect a very physical game,” he told the club media.

Meanwhile, the Ankole Lions are coached by former Vipers head coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi who has had an impressive start so far this season.

Last season at Kakyeeka Stadium, it ended in an uneventful barren stalemate with tomorrow’s opponent.

In the second round at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, Vipers were emphatic 4-1 victors, courtesy of a Milton Karisa brace and one each from Abubakar Lawal and Karim Watambala. Seiri Arigumaho netted Mbarara City’s consolation.

Vipers commands statistical superiority over Mbarara City with five wins, five draws and two defeats out of the previous 12 meetings, having scored 16 goals against nine.
