UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE

Friday’s Result

Vipers SC 2-1 Police FC

Vipers SC extended their recent superb run in the Uganda Premier League, claiming an important 2-1 victory over Police FC at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Friday.

The result marked our third successive victory, and the fourth overall after six matches, this season.

Allan Okello starred with a brace, including a late goal that secured all points, in a match that saw Vipers exert dominion.

Vipers took an early lead in the eighth minute as Okello capitalised on a loose ball, to strike with the outside of his boot, giving the home side a deserving lead.

However, Police responded strongly at the stroke of halftime, leveling the game through James Brian Obedi.

The equalizer came moments after the Venoms failed to extend their lead, with Yunus Sentamu missing two glorious goal-scoring opportunities.

Police goalkeeper Edward Kasibante then made a series of crucial saves denying Karim Watambala’s powerful attempts and a fierce strike from substitute Kenneth Kimera.

In the dying moments, Okello once again proved crucial, bundling in from close range after Mohamed Salem Ekbad’s shot rebounded off the woodwork.

In their next outing, Vipers, who momentarily hit top-spot with 13 points, will make a long trip to the West, to take on Mbarara City FC at Kakyeka Stadium on Tuesday.
