In what has turned into one of the biggest games on the local scene, Vipers SC will be hosts to SC Villa at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende floodlights in a Uganda Premier League showdown on Saturday.
The contest pits two teams who have etched their names in the history of the league with authority. Vipers have won the championship six times, with three of them coming in the last five campaigns.
Villa, on the other hand, are the record holders clinching 17 titles, with their last one coming last season.
In the current campaign, after three games, Vipers sit ninth with four points, while Villa are sixth with six points.
In their previous matches, the Venoms played out a goalless stalemate with Lugazi FC, while Villa were 2-1 victors over BUL FC.
Last season, the two teams played out draws across the first and the second rounds. It was a one-all stalemate at the St Mary’s Stadium, with Gavin Kizito and Patrick Paul Mbowa netting for the Jogoo and Venoms, respectively.
In the second round at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, the two sides played an uneventful barren draw.
