UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
Thursday’s Result
Lugazi FC 0-0 Vipers SC
Six-time Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC picked their maiden stalemate of the 2024/25 season in an unadventurous evening against Lugazi FC, at the latter’s stadium in Najjembe.
The two sides played out a cagey and tightly contested 0-0 draw on a Thursday evening in the heart of Mabira Forest.
It was a show of minimal goal-scoring opportunities from either team, as they both lacked a creative touch and cohesion in the final third.
Even then, Vipers still had a few half chances to trouble Lugazi goalkeeper Juma Mutebi, who stood strong to deny Allan Okello and Karim Watambala from distance in the first half.
Defender Hillary Mukundane was on the other end, also called into action a couple of times, as he made vital blocks to deny Sam Ssemugugu and Basham Mugwa in the second half.
The Venoms showed a bit of intent in the final minutes of the game, but it was too little too late, as Lugazi shut out any threats, especially from Okello and substitute Fumador Asiwome.
With the stalemate, Vipers currently sit fifth with four points in three matches. Nikola Kavazovic’s charges will return to action against champions SC Villa on Saturday, October 5 at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
