UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
Thursday’s Result
Vipers SC 3-0 Express FC
Following a dismal start to the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League season, Vipers SC eventually grabbed their maiden three points, after a comfortable 3-0 victory over Express FC at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Thursday.
Nikola Kavazovic’s charges had lost their first game of the season, a 3-1 defeat to NEC FC last Sunday at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
Meanwhile, a brace from skipper Milton Karisa and one from Ghanaian forward Fumador Asiwome, earned the Venoms the much-needed and fully deserved win in our first home game of the campaign.
Karisa capped a dominant opening 20 minutes with a goal, reacting quickest and stamping the ball to the net after Express goalkeeper Michael Kagiri had saved an Annest Ankunda shot.
The Venoms probed for a second and should’ve had their lead extended before the break, but Allan Okello, Kenneth Kimera and Yunus Sentamu all fell short at finding the back of the net.
Express returned to the second half more energised, with striker Sam Ssenyonjo forcing our goalkeeper Denis Kiggundu into two fine saves.
Karisa then added our second in the 75th minute, again reacting quickest to fire home, after Kimera had been denied by Kagiri.
Ten minutes later, substitutes Asiwome and Gusto Mulongo combined brilliantly, as the former struck home for a third under the floodlights.
Vipers will hope to keep the momentum going in their next encounter against Lugazi FC in Najjembe, on Thursday.
