FRIENDLY MATCH
Wednesday’s Result
Vipers SC 4-1 Lugazi FC
Vipers SC emphatically dispatched Uganda Premier League New entrants Lugazi FC 4-1 in a pre-season friendly encounter at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Wednesday.
Goals from skipper Milton Karisa and playmaker Allan Okello, along with a Kenneth Kimera brace ensured that the Venoms smiled to victory. Sam Ssemugugu netted Lugazi’s consolation.
The game added to the minutes and preparations both teams have accumulated in the lead to the forthcoming 2024/2025 season that gets underway on September 14.
Meanwhile, on the evening, the visitors netted first in the fifth minute through a Ssemugugu penalty, following a foul on Moses Buga from Abubakar Lawal.
The Venoms responded with quick surges and five minutes later, they were rewarded as Karisa headed in an Okello freekick.
After 22 minutes, Okello added his name to the scoresheet, as he calmly slotted in a well-weighted Lawal pass.
Four minutes into the second half, substitute Kimera nearly made it three, but his diving header missed inches over the bar following a Karisa cross.
A minute later, Kimera grabbed his first of the day, as he struck in the bottom left corner, having capitalised on an uncleared ball.
He thereafter completed his double, this time in sublime fashion, as he danced past his marker to strike on the half-volley with his weaker left foot.
There were more chances for Vipers to extend their lead but Yunus Sentamu, Grant Matsiko and Nicholas Wadada couldn’t find the back of the net.
Vipers will continue their preparations, when they host Soltilo Bright Stars FC on Saturday evening in another friendly bout.
