FUFA SUPER 8 TOURNAMENT
Sunday’s Result
Vipers SC 1-0 Cranes Select
Vipers will play in the final of the 2024 Fufa Super 8 tournament, following a 1-0 semifinal victory over the Uganda Cranes Select team on Sunday.
Allan Okello’s sole goal at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo was enough to send the Venoms into the final of the eight-team competition.
Vipers dominated proceedings in the first-half and created a number of goal-scoring opportunities, albeit, without breaking the deadlock.
The vibrant Okello had an early chance brilliantly tamed by Cranes Select goalkeeper Bashir Ssekagya.
Youngsters Fazil Tumwine and Abubakali Walusimbi, as well as midfielder Karim Watambala also had opportunities that narrowly missed the target.
Vipers returned for the second half the better team, dominating play and creating a mammoth of chances at the opponent’s goal.
Okello, Karisa, Walusimbi and substitute Kenneth Kimera were all denied by the brilliant Ssekagya.
At the death, the Venoms were rewarded as Okello perfectly placed the ball in the far corner to win the tie.
In the final, Vipers will battle defending champions BUL FC who eliminated Kitara FC on Saturday.
