Fufa Super 8 Tournament
Friday’s Result
Vipers SC 0-0 NEC FC
Vipers SC played out an uneventful barren stalemate with NEC FC in the opening round of the 2024 Fufa Super 8 tournament, in a St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende floodlights bout on Friday.
The game was a make of meager goal-scoring opportunities from either side, with both goalkeepers not having a whole lot to deal with.
Vipers’ biggest chance came in the second half, as Allan Okello struck from the edge of the box, only custodian Hannington Ssebwalunyo to parry out.
Milton Karisa ballooned his effort out and wide, following a beautiful low cross by Okello from the left.
Meanwhile, NEC, who enjoyed majority of the possession, had a goal rightfully ruled out, as Paul Mucureezi was offside, as he found the net off an Isma Kawawulo free-kick.
Notably, our head coach Nikola Kavazovic missed out from the touchline, as he nursed and received treatment from malaria suffered over the course of the week
To settle the scores, Vipers and NEC will lock horns yet again in the second leg, slated for the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Tuesday.
