STARTIMES UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
The Date: May 8th, 2024
The Contest: Vipers SC vs. Express FC
The Time: 7pm
The Venue: St Mary’s Stadium
Reigning champions Vipers Sports Club will seek to make a much needed bounce-back to winning ways when they host Express FC in a Wednesday Uganda Premier League showdown at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
The Venoms suffered a 1-0 defeat to BUL FC last time out and have since slipped to third on the table with 46 points after 25 games.

However, victory over the Red Eagles will see the Richard Wasswa-coached side make up ground in the race to the championship.
“We want to bounce back and sometimes it’s good to have another big game straight away. We can make it ideal if we play well. It’s up to us.” explained Wasswa.
“We’ve seen our players can bounce back quickly and we’ve got the opportunity to do that tomorrow.”

The Venoms sit just three and two points behind leaders BUL FC and second-placed Kitara FC, respectively. The two sides have played a game more than us.
Vipers suffered a 2-0 defeat to Express in the first round at Wankulukuku, courtesy of Isma Kawawulo and Isaac Wagoina.

Meanwhile, we hold the lion’s share of victories in this fixture, with ten wins since the 2012/13 season. Express have managed four victories while eight matches have ended in shared spoils.
Vipers and Express will be meeting for the 37th time in Uganda’s league history since 2006 when the Venoms joined the top flight division. We have won 16, drawn 12 and lost 8 with a return of 46 goals against 27.

Last season, the two sides played out a goalless stalemate at Wankulukuku, before the Venoms walloped their opponents 5-2 in the reverse fixture at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
A Cromwell Rwothomio brace and one each from Bright Anukani, Yunus Sentamu and Milton Karisa handed us victory at Kitende on our way to a sixth championship.
