STANBIC UGANDA CUP | QUARTERS
The Date: March 14th, 2024
The Contest: Kitara FC vs. Vipers SC
The Time: 3pm
The Venue: Masindi Stadium
Vipers SC will be keen to complete the semifinal lineup of the 50th edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup when they battle Kitara FC at the Masindi Stadium on Sunday.
Three teams; Pajule Lions, NEC FC and BUL FC have already made it into the Last Four and the Venoms will be hoping to fight to wrap up the round.
We take on a side that lead proceedings in the Uganda Premier League, as they boast 44 points, two ahead of Vipers.
In our meeting this season, we smiled to a St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende victory in the league, courtesy of a Bright Anukani brace, while Jude Ssemugabi scored for Kitara.
Our skipper Milton Karisa expects a tough and tense affair against the Royals, but he is optimistic the team will fight their way into the semifinals.
Karisa also scored the only goal as we clinched last season’s Uganda Cup at the expense of Police FC.
“Kitara FC obviously look good on paper because being on top of the Uganda Premier League isn’t easy,” Karisa told the club media.
“So yeah, they’re doing well, but we must also remember the match at St Mary’s Stadium earlier in the season. I felt that day we controlled most of the game and I felt we deserved the three points.”
“Now, coming into the game tomorrow, this time we want to show some more discipline, to control the game for 90 minutes and not just small periods. It will be a tough game but we’re ready for it and we are feeling confident.”
“We know they’re at home and the atmosphere will make a big difference for them but we aren’t scared. We know what the stadium will be like, it will be amazing but l call upon our travelling fans not to be intimidated.”
The past three competitive affairs between Vipers and Kitara have all ended in victories for the former, stamping authority in this fixture.
