STARTIMES UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
The Date: April 9th, 2024
The Contest: SC Villa vs. Vipers SC
The Time: 4pm
The Venue: Wankulukuku Stadium
Following two victories on the bounce, Vipers SC will be keen on extending the run as they visit SC Villa at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Tuesday, as they seek to further ascend atop on the Uganda Premier League table.
The Venoms beat URA FC and UPDF FC 2-0 and 2-1, respectively in the previous games and are targeting further glory.
Richard Wasswa’s charges sit third on the log with 41 points accumulated in 21 games, and victory by a two-goal margin will see them take the apex.
However, we take on a Villa side with whom we hold the battle for the championship, as they sit fourth with 40 points after 21 games.
“We’ve done the preparations very well, just like we do for other matches,” head coach Richard Wasswa told the club media.
“The players are all in a good health state and hope for the best. We are going to Wankulukuku to fight for all points.”
“Its not going to be an easy game for us, it’ll be a tough one we know. But the hard work we shall put on the pitch will give us the results,” Wasswa added.
In-form playmaker Allan Okello reiterated the need for hard work on the pitch for victory against the Jogoo.
“I believe as the players, its time to wake up, fight for the badge and work harder on the pitch,” Okello told Vipers Media.
“It’s all about the team picking up three points as we keep winning our games, because the table is tight.”
“We need to win our games, so I just ask the players to come in all, we keep fighting. Results are always made on the pitch, so, we just need to give 100%.”
Vipers and Villa played out a one-all stalemate in the first round at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
Gavin Kizito and Patrick Paul Mbowa netted for the Jogoo and Venoms, respectively.
The game will make it 37 meetings between Vipers and Villa in the league, with us holding the lion’s share of victories.
