Saturday’s Result

URA FC 0-2 Vipers SC

Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC bounced back to winning ways after an emphatic 2-0 victory over URA FC on enemy territory, the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday.

Brilliant strikes from midfielders; Moses Waiswa and Abdul Karim Watambala were enough to guide the Venoms to three priceless points.

The result lifted Vipers to fourth on the Uganda Premier League table, having gathered 38 points in 20 matches.

Our point-tally implies we sit six points off leaders Kitara FC, who have played two games more.

On the night under the Lugogo floodlights, Vipers cruised into an early lead courtesy of Waiswa’s perfectly placed strike off an equally superb pass from playmaker Allan Okello.

Our custodian Alfred Macumu Mudekereza was then called into action as he made an excellent save to deny Ibrahim Dada in the first half.

Vipers should have doubled their lead with six minutes to the end of the half, but Eric Kambale headed inches wide an Isa Mubiru cross.

At the death, substitute Watambala curled in an exquisite free-kick past goalkeeper James Alitho for the second of the evening.

Vipers will return to the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende next week on Friday with a tie against relegation-threatened UPDF FC.
