UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE

Thursday’s Result

Vipers SC 1-1 Soltilo Bright Stars FC

Uganda Premier League defending champions Vipers SC dropped two crucial points at the St. Marys Stadium, Kitende, for the second game in a row.

The Venoms were held to a one-all stalemate by Soltilo Bright Stars FC on Thursday, under the floodlights.

The result spelt another draw for Charles Livingstone Mbabazi’s charges, who were held by Gaddafi FC (0-0) in Kitende a fortnight ago.

On the evening, the hosts netted first through Eric Kenzo Kambale in the opening half, off a rebound from Karim Watambala’s saved effort.

The goal came moments after Bright Stars had missed a glorious opportunity with Nelson Senkatuka denied by a top class Jack Komakech save.

Two minutes to the hour-mark, Bright Stars equalised with Shafic Kakande tucking in a cross from Denis Kaka Umony.

Before the leveller, Vipers had missed open chances with Yunus Sentamu and Milton Karisa denied by goalkeeper Hassan Matovu on respective occasions.

Paul Patrick Mbowa also had a fine opportunity to net another Vipers goal, but he struck inches wide from a Watambala freekick.

Following the stalemate, Vipers stayed third with 32 points, seven adrift of leaders Kitara FC, who have played two games more.

Vipers will hope to make amends in their subsequent league game when they visit Wakiso Giants FC on March 10.
