Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC suffered an agonizing 2-0 at the hands of Express FC at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Saturday.

Express scored either side of the match, courtesy of left-back Isma Kawawulo and the forward Isaac Wagoina.

Kawawulo scored in the 38th minute off a rebound from Emmanuel Wasswa’s freekick, that crawled past goalkeeper Denis Kiggundu.

The goal came after Rodriguez Shamamba had failed to connect a Yunus Sentamu pass for what should have been an easy tap-in.

With Vipers the likelier to get the next goal, the hosts killed off the game in the 77th minute after Wagoina drove the ball in acres of space to strike past Kiggundu.

It made it successive defeats for Vipers for the first time this season, to descend to fourth with 24 points.

We shall be on guard to turn the tables in our next game against NEC FC at the St Mary’s Stadium Kitende floodlights on Wednesday.
