STARTIMES UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
The Date: December 13th, 2023
The Contest: Maroons FC vs. Vipers SC
The Time: 4pm
The Venue: Luzira Prisons Grounds
Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC will be eager to extend their recent impressive run when they take on Maroons FC at the Luzira Prisons Grounds on Wednesday.
The Venoms have won each of their past three games, and now looking at making it four on the bounce, albeit, against a tricky opponent.

Victory will push Vipers to the summit, level on points with BUL FC, but with a superior goal difference.
Head Coach Leo Neiva has underlined he is laying focus only on his team and not the other title contenders.

“I don’t feel that kind of pressure from other teams, we want to win our games and BUL FC doesn’t need extra pressure, they play us next Friday, so that’s enough job to do,” he told the club media.
“We have a job to do against Maroons FC and we’ll be 100% focused on that, that’s what we are and what we will be.”

“No one became champion by being at the top of the table on match day 11. But we need the points, we want to go for them and that’s what we prepare for in the short space of time,” Neiva added.
Tomorrow’s meeting will be the 17th between the two sides, but for the previous 16, the Venoms are yet to lose any, and in the process, we have 11 victories and five stalemates.

Vipers is yet to lose a single UPL match against the Prison Warders as they’ve won seven and drawn on three occasions.
At Luzira last season, it ended in a two-all stalemate, courtesy of a Milton Karisa brace while Fred Amaku and Fredrick Kigozi scored for Maroons.

At Kitende last season, we comfortably beat them 3-0, thanks to Karisa and two goals from Yunus Sentamu.
Team News:
Abdu Lumala is ruled out of Maroons game with groin injury he suffered in our 2-1 win against Kitara FC last week.
Siraje Sentamu’s injury wasn’t as bad as we thought and he had a full training session yesterday and today, so he’s available for selection.
Patrick Mbowa has returned to the squad after being granted compassionate leave last week to finish his institute exams.
Apart from long term absentees; Hilary Mukundane and Alfred Mudekereza, Neiva has a fully fit squad to choose from his 22 man squad.
