UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
Thursday’s Result
Vipers SC 2-0 URA FC
Champions Vipers SC exhibited a show of character and brilliance as they comfortably beat URA FC 2-0 at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, on Thursday.
Erick Kenzo Kambale’s first Venom goal and another from the electric man Abdu Lumala handed us three points, to move second on the log with 17 points after eight games.
The result also ensured we returned to winning ways after suffering a 3-1 defeat to KCCA FC last time out.
Under the floodlights, we grabbed an eighth-minute goal with Kambale striking a low-drive from outside the box past goalkeeper Denis Otim.
Seven minutes into the second half, Vipers added a second as Lumala capitalised on a Najib Fesali back pass to round off Otim and slot in an empty net.
A minute later, it should have been three for the home team but Kambale was denied by a superb Otim save.
Four minutes after the hour-mark, substitute Rodriguez Shamamba should have scored but his shot with the keeper to beat was thwarted by Otim.
The visitors nearly found a consolation in the 77th minute through Saidi Kyeyune’s stinging shot but custodian Fabien Mutombora denied him with an exquisite save.
Four minutes to the 90, Kyeyune yet again tested Mutombora from distance, but the latter was equal to the challenge, as we saw out the entire 90.
Following the results, Vipers will visit UPDF FC in their next match at the Bombo Military Barracks on November 30.
