STARTIMES UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
The Date: November 23rd, 2023
The Contest: Vipers SC vs. URA FC
The Time: 7pm
The Venue: St Mary’s Stadium

Following a long international break, Vipers SC will be back at home under the floodlights as they host URA FC at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Thursday.

The Venoms will be keen to get back to winning ways following our 3-1 defeat to KCCA last time out in the Uganda Premier League.

We will hope to extend our recent dominance over URA, which has had Vipers take two wins and one draw and a defeat in our most previous four meetings.

Last four meetings:

  • Vipers SC 1-1 URA FC
  • URA FC 0-1 Vipers SC
  • URA FC 0-3 Vipers SC
  • Vipers SC 0-2 URA FC

Last season at the St Mary’s Stadium, it ended in a one-all stalemate with Karim Ndugwa scoring our equaliser, after Paul Patrick Mbowa had given the Tax Collectors an early lead.

Meanwhile, Mbowa has since moved to the opposite side, and has already established himself as a Vipers stalwart both in defence and midfield.

Vipers had in the first round, taken a narrow but important 1-0 win over our opponents, thanks to a Benjamin Nyakoojo own-goal.

However, across the league, URA is the only side with a better head to head record over the champions, coming out on top in our previous 37 encounters.

Head-To-Head:

Meetings: 37
Vipers wins: 8
Draws: 13
Losses: 16
Goals for: 34
Against: 40
Points: 36

We currently occupy fourth on the UPL log with 14 points in seven games, while URA FC are seventh with 10.

Team News:

Coach Leo Neiva has reported no fresh injury concerns following two weeks of intense training since the international break.

Five Venoms; Yunus Sentamu, Milton Karisa, Jack Komakech, Bright Anukani and Rogers Torach, who were involved with the National team in Morocco aren’t part of the squad.

Goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza and Hilary Mukundane are the only absentees with long term injuries.
