STARTIMES UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
The Date: September 31, 2023
The Contest: Vipers vs. Wakiso Giants
The Time: 7pm
The Venue: St Mary’s Stadium

In our first derby of the campaign, Vipers SC host neighbours Wakiso Giants FC in the Uganda Premier League at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday.

Unbeaten this season, having accumulated three victories and two draws in the first five games, we shall seek to keep the momentum as we charge for the title.

Meanwhile, Vipers head coach Leonard Martins Neiva doesn’t expect it easy against the Purple Sharks.

“We will have to be at our best to win because of the strength of the opposition,” Neiva told the club media.

“I don’t see any weaknesses in the Wakiso Giants side, but I know if we are at our best we can create some.”

“I am confident in our team and I know we can beat anybody at St Mary’s Stadium,” the Brazilian summed.

Neiva also confirmed captain Milton Karisa had trained for the past two days, but is still uncertain about whether he will make start or come off the bench.

It ended in a one-all stalemate when we visited Wakiso Giants last season, before St Mary’s Stadium’s 0-0 draw in the second leg.

While Wakiso has never beaten Vipers in League history, encounters between the two are often times cagey.

We have still managed three victories while the other five have ended without a winner.

Team News:

Milton Karisa back in training and has trained very well – great news after our team captain missed our last game against Soltilo Bright Stars FC with a hamstring injury.

Coach Leo Neiva will make a late decision on him in the morning if his to feature in the encounter against Purple Sharks in the evening.

Ghanaian Fumador Asiwome and Marvin Joseph Youngman are progressing well and back training on the sidelines. Decision on their participation in full team training will be made in the forthcoming days.
