Friday’s Result
Soltilo Bright Stars FC 0-2 Vipers SC
Vipers SC returned to winning ways following an emphatic 2-0 victory over Soltilo Bright Stars FC at the Kavumba Recreation Center, on Friday.
Midfielders Karim Watambala and Bright Anukani struck in the second half to hand the Venoms three valuable points on a tricky outing.
Headed into the match, we had managed double stalemates to Mbarara City FC (0-0) and SC Villa (1-1) in the last two games.
Meanwhile on the evening, the start to the game was like anticipated cagey, with no serious attacking action from either side.
Our first sight to goal came in the 12th minute through a Watambala freekick which was saved by Bright Stars’ goalkeeper Derrick Were.
Vipers then made a fast start to the second half and found the back of the net within just four minutes, through Watambala’s powerful low drive that was deflected by Bright Stars captain Andy Kyambadde.
The Venoms doubled their lead in four minutes later, with Anukani chesting in an Abdu Lumala lofted cross.
The hosts then threatened through substitute Sam Ssenyonjo in the 81st minute, but his goal-bound effort was met with a strong outstretched Jack Komakech hand.
Vipers, who have moved to fourth on the table with 11 points, will hope to make it two wins on the bounce in their next match against Wakiso Giants FC on Tuesday, under the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende floodlights.
