Friday’s Result
Vipers SC 1-1 SC Villa
Vipers SC played out a nervy one-all stalemate with SC Villa in the Uganda Premier League on Friday at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
While Garvin Kizito Mugweri scored earlier in the match for Villa, Patrick Mbowa netted the leveller for Vipers on the night under the floodlights.
Kizito, scored through a seven-minute strike following a freekick from Umar Lutalo.
The Venoms nearly found a leveller through a Bright Anukani freekick, but goalkeeper Norman Angufidru made a decent save to leave it levelled.
Vipers yet again pressed and should have scored at the stroke of half-time, but Angufidru superbly saved Yunus Sentamu’s effort.
Into the second half, with Vipers pressing hard, the latter should have grabbed the equalizer, but substitute and new signing Erick Kambale missed from close range with goal at his mercy.
Eight minutes later, Mbowa headed past Angufidru to level matters for Vipers after a spell of sheer dominance.
Vipers nearly grabbed the winner but both Milton Karisa and Abdu Karim Watambala were denied with timely saves from Angufidru.
With four matches played, Vipers are now fourth with eight points on the 16-team log, while Villa have ascended to seventh.
