UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
Thursday’s Result
Vipers SC 2-0 Arua Hill SC
Vipers Sports Club smiled to a satisfying 2-0 victory over Arua Hill SC under the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende floodlights on Thursday.
Goals from defender Livingstone Mulondo and Nigerian Abubakar Lawal were enough to guide the Venoms to their second win in the Uganda Premier League this season.
Prior to the match, our crowds were treated to a lit presentation of new signing Allan Okello, who joined the team earlier.
Into the game, we made a fast start and nearly got into the lead in the sixth minute but Mohamed Salem Ekbad’s header was inches wide from a Bright Anukani corner.
Mulondo then broke the deadlock with a thunderous header in the 15th minute, after a superb Ashraf Mandela cross.
In the 32nd minute, we added a second through a dinked Lawal finish, following brilliant interplay between Yunus Sentamu and Bright Anukani.
In the second half, Arua Hill nearly pulled one back in the 61st minute but Gadafi Wahab’s freekick was met with a brilliant Jack Komakech save.
Seven minutes to the 90, skipper Milton Karisa should have added a third for Vipers, but he failed to fully connect with the ball as Anyama saved.
Vipers are now in the lead of proceedings with six points after two games and will take on Mbarara City FC away in the next match.
