Vipers Sports Club get their hunt for silverware this season underway with the season curtain raiser –The 2023 FUFA Super 8 Tournament – with an away trip to Jinja for a duel against BUL FC on Thursday (August 10, 2023) at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.
It will be the first competitive match for the 2022/23 StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) champions as they make a bow in the hugely-anticipated new season under new head coach Leonard Neiva Martins.
Last season Vipers lifted the league title with 53 points whereas seventh-placed BUL FC managed a paltry 36.

The Venoms will kick-off their Super 8 fixture against BUL with a psychological edge since they won the last edition of this tournament in 2019 when they outclassed KCCA FC 2-0, courtesy of Fahad Bayo’s strikes.
Vipers and BUL have met 26 times in the league and looking at the journey statistically, the Kitende-based side have an upper hand in terms of victories.
Vipers boast of 16 league victories, with seven encounters ending in stalemates while BUL have earned just two wins over their opponents for the season opener.

The last meeting between the two teams ended in a one-all stalemate with midfielder Karim Watambala’s late penalty leveling matters for Vipers after Samuel Ssekamatte had given the Jinja-based side the lead.
