Vipers Sports Club have completed the signing of hugely-versed Brazilian striker Giancarlo Lopez Rodriguez as the first man to join the Venoms in the on-going transfer window.

The 33-year-old inked a two-year-deal to stay at St. Marys Kitende until 2025 with a solitary aim of bolstering the clubs striking department and forthwith add quality to the squad.

Done Deal: Rodriguez has put pen to paper for a two-year deal with the Venoms.

Rodriguez is a proven journeyman who has not only played in South America but also plied his trade in Asia.

He started his career in his country of birth Ferroviario in the 2012/13 season, joined EC Vitoria and later moved to Treza FC in 2014.

Still in Brazil, he turned out for Sao Caetano, Santo Andre, Macae, Rio Branco-AC, Ferroviario (second short stint in 2015), and Sousa in 2016 before leaving for Guarani-CE later that year.

Well-travelled

In 2017 as a free agent, Rodriguez joined Villa Nova, which he left in December that year for America-RJ.

In 2019, he jumped ship and operated outside South America for the first time where he joined Petaling Jaya City FC in Malaysia for a short stint.

Beautiful Game: Rodriquez is a well-travelled journey man professional – an attribute that will help him adapt quickly.

From Malaysia, the 1.95m tall attacker moved to Indonesia where he played for PSM Makassar in January 2020.

He was on the road, again, in December that year joining Bangladesh side Sheikh Russel.

Home came calling for the striker who went back to Brazil to play for União Cacoalense-Ro, where he has been permanent furniture in the starting line-up for past few months.

Samba Flair. Rodriquez had already had a feel of the Kitende turf and will look to scoring many important goals at the ‘Home of Champions’.

Rodriguez finds able competition for starting role with Nigerian Abubakar Lawal and the Ugandan trio of Yunus Sentamu, Karim Ndugwa and Cromwell Rwothomio.
