Eight players; Disan Galiwango, Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye, Ibrahim Orit, Bashir Asiku, Musa Ssali, Olivier Osomba, Garcia Mpongo and Serge Robert Mwenge have left the club.
All eight formed a huge part of our first team squad of their Vipers careers, and we would like to wish them the very best for the future.
Disan Galiwango
Galiwango departs after three successful seasons with the Venoms, having joined from Express FC at the start of the 2020/21 season.
He helped Vipers to two successful Uganda Premier League titles in 2021/22 and 2022/23.
The 25 year-old also has two Uganda Cups to his name with us; in 2021 and the final one in the preceding 2022/23 season.
Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye
Following a return to St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende from Police FC, Zaga, who hails from our feeder side, St Mary’s Secondary School (SMASK), leaves a three-time Uganda Premier League champion, over two spells.
He won his first in the 2019/20 campaign in his first spell at the club, returned in 2021/22 and won it again, before helping Vipers defend it last season.
Zaga, who is also a darling among the Venom faithful, also has a Uganda Cup medal to his name.
Ibrahim Orit
Talented winger Ibrahim Orit joined the Venoms from Mbarara City FC at the start of the 2020/21 campaign and became an instant hit at Kitende.
After three seasons, the 24 year-old amassed two Uganda Premier League champions’ medals and just as many (two) Uganda Cups.
Bashir Asiku
A graduate from our feeder side St Mary’s Secondary School (SMASK), Asiku leaves having delivered a huge three Uganda Premier League medals out of our total six.
The talented central defender, who has never played for any other side, spent four seasons with the senior team, winning us two Uganda Cups as well. He leaves as a diligent servant.
Musa Ssali
The rock-solid midfielder, a graduate from our feeder side St Mary’s Secondary School (SMASK) joined in the 2020/21 season, making 12 league appearances that season, before it was cut short by COVID-19.
Ssali, under former head coach Roberto Oliviera, won the 2021 Uganda Cup, and added the medal last season.
Under the Brazilian, he also won the 2021/22 league title.
Olivier Osomba
The Congolese joined Vipers at the start of the previous season with the goal of bolstering our midfield following the departure of Bobosi Byaruhanga.
And despite being hampered by injuries, Osomba leaves a Uganda Premier League champion and a Uganda Cup winner. He will be remembered for scoring the last penalty that took Vipers SC to the group stages of the CAF Champions League against TP Mazembe in DR Congo.
Garcia Mpongo Mbombo
Having joined the Venoms at the start of the 2022/23, Mpongo will not renew his contract.
Despite being limited in terms of appearances due to stiff competition at the club plus injuries, he will leave with a lot of positives, having helped Vipers to a Uganda Premier League and the Uganda Cup.
Serge Robert Mwenge
Despite not making a single league appearance, the Congolese made the bench a couple of times and played twice in the CAF Champions League.
