STANBIC UGANDA CUP
Tuesday’s Result | 2nd Leg Semi-final
Soltilo Bright Stars FC 1-0 Vipers SC
Vipers SC progress on 4-1 Aggregate
Vipers SC hit a third Stanbic Uganda Cup final in succession, nevermind the 1-0 loss to Soltilo Bright Stars FC at Kavumba Recreation Grounds on Tuesday.
In each of the last two seasons, we played BUL FC, winning and losing one apiece.
On the evening, Nelson Senkatuka scored the only goal of the evening, but it didn’t deter our passage to the final, to keep our dream for a domestic double alive .
We had made the job lighter in the first leg, as we thrashed our opponents 4-0 at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
In Kavumba, it was a cagey start to the game as both sides had trouble mastering attacking threat in the final third at either end.
Asaph Mwebaze’s team, almost scored with ten minutes to the end of the first half, but Senkatuka was denied by an excellent Fabien Mutombora save.
In the 40th minute, Senkatuka wasn’t to be denied this time, as he capitalized on a Rogers Torach mistake, to score past Mutombora.
Torach then stood tall and strong in the 44th minute as he brilliantly denied Senkatuka from making a brace.
We kept strong as Bright Stars were desperately searching for another goal in the second half, but couldn’t find a way.
We shall now take on Fufa Big League side Police FC in the final this Saturday at the Akii-Bua Memorial Stadium in Lira.
