STANBIC UGANDA CUP

Saturday’s Result | 1st Leg

Vipers SC 4-0 Soltilo Bright Stars FC

Vipers Sports Club put up a strong show of absolute dominion, beating Soltilo Bright Stars FC 4-0 in the semi-finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup on Saturday at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

A Bright Anukani brace and one each for Yunus Sentamu and Karim Watambala were enough to give the Venoms a first leg advantage.

It’s however not over for Alex Isabirye’s charges, who will know anything can happen when the two sides meet in ten days’ time.

We made a fast start to the game and in the 10th minute, Anukani struck from the penalty, after Milton Karisa had been illegally brought to the floor by Warren Buule.

Seven minutes later, we doubled our lead through a calm, collected and composed finish from Sentamu, getting at the end of a Karisa ball.

Anukani then rounded the first half brilliance with his own magic, striking rather superbly and expertly from his own half, to beat Hassan Matovu in goal, to make it three.

Buzzing midfielder Watambala nearly made it 4-0 two minutes after the start to the second half, but his close range shot was saved well by Matovu.

He however finally got his deserved goal, a penalty, after substitute Cromwel Rwothomio had been felled to the turf.

We shall now meet in the second leg on May 30th at the Kavumba Recreation Grounds, with the winner to take on either Police FC or Adjumani TC.
