STANBIC UGANDA CUP

The Time: 4pm
The Venue: St Mary’s Stadium
Vipers SC entertains Soltilo Bright Stars FC in a tricky semi-final first leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende this Saturday.
This is in a bid for the Venoms to chase their third Cup final in three successive years.
Gaffer Alex Isabirye is not taking anything for granted as he’s aware of the nature of the opponent.
“Tomorrow’s game is going to be difficult as we are playing one of the most organized teams in Uganda,” said Isabirye in an interview with the club media.
We have played the Kavumba outfit twice already this season, with one match ending in a barren stalemate, while we lost the other 1-0 in the league.
“We lost 1-0 to them already, but like I’ve been saying, the target is a win and that’s what everyone here has at the back of their minds.”
“We’re at home where we need to play comfortably, where we need a good result, then we’ll see what happens away,” he added.
“It will not be an easy game. There’s no weak team that reaches this level. Our opponent is going to do everything to make sure he also gets a result,” Isabirye reiterated.
Vipers has two Uganda Cup trophies while Bright Stars’ biggest highlight was reaching the final in 2019 where they lost Proline FC.
