UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE

Friday’s Result

Vipers SC 1-0 KCCA FC

Vipers SC put up a show of character and grit as they edged KCCA FC 1-0 in a Uganda Premier League encounter between two title contenders.

Under the floodlights with a bouncing St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, captain, Milton Karisa netted the evening’s sole goal to send the Venom crowds in a frenzy.

The victory took us to second place, as we have a superior goal difference over KCCA. It’s important to note both sides are tied on 45 points.

Vipers have played a game fewer than KCCA and two less than leaders SC Villa, who have 46 points.

The Venoms, in the first half, had an early chance to break the deadlock, but Karisa and Abubaker Lawal failed to score after just two minutes.

Rogers Mato, then had a sniff for KCCA in the 30th minute, but his shot from outside the box missed the target.

Allan Okello’s shot in the 68th minute, then hit the woodwork, as Mato’s followup went over the bar to leave matters leveled.

We then missed two huge chances in quick succession as both Martin Kizza and Cromwel Rwothomio were denied by the KCCA defence.

In the 88th minute, Karisa wasn’t to be denied as he shot with his weaker left foot, as the ball evaded the defence into the back of the net.

Vipers will continue the fight when they visit Soltilo Bright Stars FC in their next match at the Kavumba Recreation Grounds on Tuesday.
